![]() Who is Brad Lindsay? Here's a brief summary... I'm a long time offline business owner having been in business for over 23 years. The focus of my main business 'Publishing Technologies Ltd' (www.pubtec.co.uk) was in the supply and support of 'electronic pre-press equipment and workflow' used in the print and publishing industry (this business still runs today but the goal and focus has changed considerably over recent years). At the height of my business success, our turnover was in the order of just under $1m with single sales order value of up to $160,000. My customers included high profile organizations in the UK including local government authorities and one of the largest universities in the UK. These customers included: The Open University (a large UK University www.open.ac.uk), Greys Advsertising (a global advertising company with headquarters in New York - www.grey.com), Portsmouth City Council (www.portsmouth.gov.uk) and Shropshire City Council (http://www.shropshire.gov.uk). Most of my business was gained through word of mouth - a form of viral marketing you might say :-). So I've been there and have extensive experience of running small businesses. Back then in the early years of my business success, I was enjoying a reasonable living and was driving a Porsche. But running a small traditional business also had it's drawbacks. For many years whilst I was building my business, I was unable to go away on the typical 2 week vacation that my own employees enjoyed. Working long hours meant I was spending less time with family and friends. I was only able to take long weekend breaks by taking advantage of the bank holiday weekends in the U.K. Running your own small business is not a 9-5 affair. I worked long hours and had little time for leisure activities. Typically small offline businesses are subject to many outside pressures including the economic climate, recession, seasonal market influences... To compliment my existing business, I started an internet service provider business in 1998 (www.lineukinternet.net - originally www.lineuk.net). We provide broadband connectivity and web/email hosting services exclusively to businesses in the U.K. This is an offline business model I personally prefer as it allows me to build a relatively passive income stream since broadband and hosting customers in general require little support. Internet marketing provides the ultimate in freedom to do what one chooses and enables you to build multiple passive streams of income, generally with no more effort than you would put into developing and building an offline business. The big difference however is the much higher earning potential that is possible, since you you now have a global market for your products. (The current estimate is that there are nearly 1 billion people online!) My internet marketing activities has taken me states side numerous times where I've been able to meet and hang out with some of the big names in internet marketing, having been mentored by Mike Filsaime, Tom Beal, Donna Fox and Paulie Sabol. My goal now is to use my business experience to build my internet marketing business whilst helping others to succeed with their own online businesses. Should you require any further information, you can contact me here. Here are just a few pictures taken with various other marketers I've met and befriended in my travels.
